Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a contractor.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and construction contracts such as JCT.
• Background in fit-out or commercial construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Preparation of monthly cost and value reconciliation reports.
• Manage and value variations, including subcontract negotiations.

The Company

A market-leading Principal Contractor who completes projects for major blue chip retail clients are looking to add to their Commercial team. This business has over 25 years' of experience within the industry delivering high quality fittings and bespoke projects across the retail sector.

The Role

Assistant Quantity Surveyor supporting the commercial team in delivering refit and refurbishment packages on retail projects nationwide ranging in value ( 50k - 1m).

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you must possess the following;

• 3+ years' experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor or a Fit-Out Contractor
• Strong knowledge of commercial and construction contracts such as JCT
• Preferred background in fit out or commercial construction
• Knowledge of refit and refurbishment projects with values ranging between 50k - 1m
• Good communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations
• Well organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works
• Commercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of parties

Duties

• Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor
• Submission of interim payment applications
• Preparation of monthly cost and value reconciliation reports / Project cost control
• Assisting with all commercial aspects of allocated projects
• Preparation and submission of interim valuations
• Manage and value variations
• Attend meetings for the agreement of final accounts
• Post contract liaison with clients
• Sub-contract negotiation and letting
• Joint responsibility of managing contract costs including payments to sub-contractors
• Assist with the management of contractual documentation and letters / Understanding of sub-contracts
• Placing sub-contract orders
