Job summary

Linxon is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support cost control, contract management and commercial success on a 400kV substation project under NEC 4 Option C. The role reports to the commercial manager and offers a hybrid work model with a competitive salary and benefits.

You will monitor costs, manage payments, administer NEC 4 Option C, and help with risk and value management while producing regular CVRs and forecasts for stakeholders.

Job Description Role: Assistant Quantity Surveyor Location: London/Didcot

We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the commercial manager, you will play a pivotal role in 400kV substation project, delivered under NEC 4 Option C. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-value infrastructure project, ensuring cost control, contract management, and overall commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Management

Monitor and control project costs to ensure the project is delivered within budget. Prepare and review cost forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities. Validate and manage subcontractor and supplier payments.

Contract Administration

Administer the NEC 4 Option C contract, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions. Manage Compensation Events (CEs) and variations, ensuring timely submissions and agreement. Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain accurate and comprehensive project records.

Risk and Value Management

Identify, analyze, and mitigate commercial risks. Assist in value engineering to optimize project performance and reduce unnecessary costs.

Reporting

Provide regular financial reports, including cost-value reconciliations (CVRs) and forecasts. Present financial performance and risk updates to stakeholders.

Collaboration

Liaise with the client, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain strong relationships. Support the procurement team in evaluating and appointing subcontractors.
