Job summary

Recco in Central London is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on CAT A and CAT B office fit-out projects.

You will assist with commercial management on schemes up to £12m, support the Senior QS, and help with subcontractor procurement, valuations and cost control. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in QS/Assistant QS roles, experience in commercial fit-out, and proficiency in Excel and QS software.

Qualifications

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within construction is essential.
• Ideally 2+ years' experience in a QS / Assistant QS capacity.
• Experience working for a commercial fit-out contractor would be highly advantageous.
• Experience working on projects £5m+ is desirable.
• Good understanding of subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard commercial/QS software.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline would be advantageous.

The Role

Our client is a well-established commercial fit-out contractor based in Central London, specialising in CAT A and CAT B office fit-out and refurbishment projects across London. With a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working within commercial fit-out, with exposure to projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the commercial management of CAT A and CAT B fit-out projects up to £12m.
• Support the Senior QS / Project QS with the day-to-day commercial management of projects.
• Assist with the preparation and management of subcontractor packages.
• Review and negotiate subcontractor quotations and orders.
• Assist with valuations, payment applications and payment notices.
