An established cost management consultancy is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its growing London team.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience delivering residential and commercial developments while progressing a career in quantity surveying and cost management within a supportive consultancy environment.

In this Assistant Quantity Surveyor job in London, you will support the cost management delivery of multiple residential and commercial developments in Central London.

Projects typically include high‑value residential schemes and commercial buildings, with the role contributing to successful project delivery from early cost planning through to final account.

Responsibilities and Duties

This role will support senior quantity surveyors and cost managers across a range of project stages and responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting with the preparation of cost plans, budgets and detailed cost estimates
  • Supporting procurement activities, tender documentation and tender analysis
  • Assisting with contract administration duties across pre‑and post‑contract stages
  • Preparing valuations, monitoring variations and contributing to cost reports
  • Assisting with progress reporting and financial control of live projects
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and external consultants as required
  • Supporting risk management processes and value engineering exercises
Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be developing a career in quantity surveying or cost consulting and will ideally demonstrate the following:

  • Previous experience in a cost consultancy or construction‑related environment
  • Exposure to residential and commercial construction projects
  • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
  • Understanding of procurement routes and construction contracts
  • Professional attitude with a clear ambition to progress within quantity surveying
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
