Job summary

Power & Infrastructure Resourcing is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support major infrastructure projects in the rail sector. The role is based in Doncaster, with a focus on tendering, cost control and commercial reporting.

The successful candidate will have a BSc in Quantity Surveying and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Travel and a full UK driving licence are expected, along with strong communication and IT skills.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-pressure environments preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to prioritise.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tender and contract documents including Bills of Quantities.
  • Submit monthly applications to clients to support cash flow.
  • Assist with cost to value reconciliation reporting for live projects.
  • Carry out cost analyses for repair and maintenance works.
  • Analyse client needs and undertake feasibility studies.
  • Perform risk management, value engineering and cost control.
  • Identify commercial risks and develop responses.
  • Allocate work to subcontractors and advise on claims.
  • Produce progress reports and value completed work for payments.

Overview

Power & Infrastructure Resourcing is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join one of our clients operating within the rail and infrastructure sector. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business and support the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects.

Location: Doncaster

Responsibilities
  • Preparing tender and contract documents, including Bills of Quantities.
  • Compiling and submitting monthly applications to clients to ensure cash flow stability.
  • Supporting, or where appropriate leading, Cost to Value Reconciliation reporting for live projects.
  • Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance projects.
  • Assisting in establishing client requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
  • Performing risk management, value engineering and cost control.
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
  • Allocating work to subcontractors.
  • Providing advice on contractual claims.
  • Analyzing project outcomes and preparing detailed progress reports.
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of current construction contracts.
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified with a BSc in Quantity Surveying.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident presenting information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of SAP and GIS would be advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and Bills of Quantities.
  • Experience in works measurement, valuation and cost/value reconciliation.
  • Previous experience within the Transport, Energy, Construction or Engineering sectors would be advantageous.
