Role Overview

In a Nutshell…

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team within Vistry East London, at our Brentwood office. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor and assist in the commercial delivery of residential development schemes. Your responsibilities will include cost management for development and contracting projects from procurement to the completion of sub-contract final accounts. This is a key role, and the ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role for a main contractor or developer in the region.

What we expect from you...

• HNC / Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or equivalent
• Good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations
• Knowledge of construction methods and materials
• Strong mathematical and IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of standard measurement rules and budget management
• Ability to analyze information and demonstrate good business sense
• Negotiating, networking, and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and accept feedback
• Teamworking skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Methodical approach and willingness to work extra hours when needed

Desirable qualifications

• HND or Degree in Construction
• Membership or working towards full membership of the Chartered Institute of Building
• Knowledge of COINS systems and working towards being a chartered member of CIPS

• Attend site pre-start meetings with the Senior / Quantity Surveyor
• Assist in preparing tender packages and analyzing tenders
• Issue and manage sub-contract orders, liaising with build department on performance and compliance
• Provide forecast and site budget information, assist in cost control and reporting
• Process invoices and applications for payments, manage variations and final accounts
• Maintain project administration and safety standards
• Participate in meetings, communicate with colleagues, and ensure safety policies are followed
