Job Title | Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Hours | 38hrs per week 8.00am to 5pm Mon to Thurs, 8.00am to 3pm Friday
Salary | Competitive depending on experience
Responsible to | Lead Quantity Surveyor
Key Responsibilities
- The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for assisting in the successful financial delivery of projects by controlling costs, progressing monthly valuations and helping to compile variations and change orders.
- Manage & maintain relationships with clients, contractors, other construction professionals, suppliers, and site staff.
- Assist in compiling monthly job costing reviews and final accounts.
- Assist in the commercial activities of the business and provide support/advice in this regard to the Projects Managers, Lead QS & Snr Management Team as required.
- Assist in preparation of monthly valuations following site measurements and work-in-progress reviews.
- Follow up monthly valuations ensure payments are received on time as per the agreed contract conditions.
- Complete and submit project documentation and correspondence within agreed timeframes.
- Assist in processing monthly subcontractor payments.
- Assist with the review of Contracts ahead of signing.
- Engage Sub-contractors, assist with negotiations, prepare sub-contract documents
- Any other duties required to fulfil the requirements of the position
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Third level qualification in a Surveying or Cost Engineering discipline or can demonstrate an equivalent level of experience.
- High standard of organisational and time management skills.
- High level of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- A keen eye for detail and willing to learn.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication & negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent client engagement skills.
- Current UK Driving License.
Desirable Criteria
- Training/Education Knowledge of Industry Standard Forms of Contract.
- Experience in a construction or mechanical environment (placement or degree training)
- Experience in financial planning and control of mechanical or construction projects (placement or degree training).
