Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support project delivery within its Asset Intelligence business, based at Stansted. You will assist with commercial tasks alongside Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors, including cost control, contract administration and procurement, with regular site attendance for measurements and progress reviews.

The role emphasises monitoring delivery progress, risks and changes, and contributing to project records, cash-flow forecasts

Qualifications

• Basic commercial and measurement knowledge, Microsoft Excel competence and awareness of standard contracts are expected.
• NEC awareness or experience is preferred.

Job description

Galliford Try is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for its Asset Intelligence business, focusing on project delivery at Stansted. The full-time role supports Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors with commercial work, including cost control, contract administration and procurement. Regular site attendance is required to assist with measurements, progress reviews and project records.

The assistant will monitor progress, risks and changes with delivery and design colleagues.

Duties include:

• cash-flow forecasts
• client applications
• budgets and financial reports
• together with subcontractor applications
• payment administration

Tender analysis, comparisons and procurement recommendations form part of the work. The post also supports cost-value reconciliations, month-end reporting and the handling of notices, early warnings, compensation events and other changes. Applicants may bring experience, placement experience or a strong interest in quantity surveying and construction commercial work.

A degree, HNC or HND in a relevant discipline, or study towards one, is requested. Basic commercial and measurement knowledge, Microsoft Excel competence and awareness of standard contracts are expected. NEC awareness or experience is preferred, with a positive approach to professional development.
