Job summary

Bimplus is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its Bedford commercial team. The role covers commercial management, project support and estimating and involves regular site visits. Hybrid working is available after a training period.

The position offers a salary of up to £35,000 plus pension and 25 days holiday. You will join a small, experienced team and support multiple live sites across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• 1 year+ QS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process applications for payment and measure works.
• Review drawings and quantify works.
• Support cost reporting and forecasting.

• Assist with contract administration and commercial documents.
• Carry out site visits and surveys (1–2 times per week).
• Support estimating on tenders and pricing exercises.

The Role – Assistant Quantity Surveyor

This is an office-based role with regular site visits. You will work across commercial duties, project management support and estimating. You must be versatile and confident managing multiple responsibilities.

• Applications for payment
• Measuring works and reviewing drawings
• Supporting cost reporting and forecasting
• Preparing and reviewing subcontractor packages
• Comparing quotations and supporting procurement
• Assisting with contract administration and commercial documentation
• Carrying out site visits and site surveys (1–2 times per week)
• Managing 6–8 live sites
• Acting as Project Manager when required (covering holidays or absence)
• Supporting estimating on tenders and pricing exercises
• Working on projects requiring security clearance

• Ideally 1 year+ experience as a Quantity Surveyor
• Flooring or subcontractor background preferred
• Must be able to drive
• Versatile and able to manage multiple responsibilities
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to manage 6–8 live sites
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Able to work independently and within a team
• Comfortable working on security‑cleared projects (training provided)

Working Hours

8.30am – 5.00pm Hybrid working available after a training period.
