Job summary

The Assistant Psychologist role is based at HMP Wymott in the Health in Justice service. The post focuses on psychological assessment, triage and one-to-one work, plus trauma-informed group sessions, under supervision by a qualified psychologist.

It is a part-time post (30 hours over four days, 08:00–16:00) with a complex caseload. Requirements include a psychology degree and eligibility to work in the UK, with additional vetting before any offer.

Qualifications

• Degree in psychology.
• Right to work in the UK; vetting before offer.
• Paid Assistant Psychologist experience in prison/community/psychiatric setting.
• Experience facilitating patient therapeutic groups.
• Experience delivering psychological assessment and intervention (CBT/CFT/DBT).

Responsibilities

• Support psychological care of patients during the service.
• Run clinics, assessments and one-to-one sessions.
• Triage patients and identify needs.
• Deliver trauma-informed group sessions.
• Provide assessment and intervention under supervision.
• Work with complex cases and challenging behaviours.
• Contribute to ACCT process and CSIP.
• Monitor mental health and report changes.
