Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an Assistant Psychologist to support the Learning Disability Service in Glasgow. You will work under supervision to contribute to assessments, interventions and group programs, gaining experience across clinical settings within a large NHS system.

Based at Castlemilk Social Work Office, the role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with opportunities for further professional development and training within a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• First Class or Upper Second Class Honours Degree in Psychology
• Eligible for GBC of the British Psychological Society
• Experience building relationships with people, paid or voluntary
• Understanding of needs of people with learning disabilities or related conditions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good understanding of psychological theory, research methods, statistics and evidence-based practice
• Strong IT skills with MS Office and data analysis systems

Responsibilities

• Support psychologists in delivering assessments and interventions for adults with learning disabilities
• Assist with formulation and implementation of care/treatment plans
• Contribute to planning, coordination and delivery of therapeutic groups
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with healthcare professionals
• Assist with clinical audits, research projects, data collection, analysis and report preparation
• Support development of psychologically informed resources and service improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate clinical records and uphold professional standards
