Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Registered Nurse Learning Disability (RNLD) to join Specialist Learning Disability Inpatient Services. You will work within a skilled multidisciplinary team delivering evidence-based care to individuals with learning disabilities who may have complex needs.

Based at Claythorn House, you will contribute to assessment, care planning and evaluation while supporting training and development of junior staff in a dynamic NHS Scotland environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse Learning Disability qualification or RMN qualification.
• Current NMC registration or eligibility to register.
• Knowledge of caring for individuals with learning disabilities and complex care needs.
• Understanding of Mental Health and Adults with Incapacity legislation.
• Ability to assess risk and exercise clinical judgement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to professional development and delivering person-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients with learning disabilities and complex needs.
• Undertake assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of personalised care programmes.
• Act as a Named or Associate Nurse for a defined patient group.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to support positive patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate patient records and provide effective written and verbal communication.
• Respond to clinical incidents, emergencies and changes in patient presentation.
• Support, supervise and develop students, support workers and junior staff.
