Job summary

SSEN Transmission in Scotland is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the construction and commissioning of a major transmission Overhead Line project. You will help deliver the ASTI Loch Buidhe to Spittal Overhead Line Project (OHL), ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

Based in Perth or Inverness, regular travel to Caithness is expected (2–3 times a month). During construction, attendance will be 2–3 days per week, with 50% office time in the Scottish locations.

Qualifications

• A qualification in engineering, construction, project management or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience delivering projects in transmission/energy/utilities sectors.
• Understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and health and safety standards.
• Commercial awareness and experience of project governance and NEC contract administration.
• Strong organisational and communication skills; ability to prioritise and drive actions.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe delivery of projects, promoting best practice in health, safety and environmental performance and ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and SSE's safety standards.
• Assist with planning, monitoring and control of project activities to deliver on time, within budget and to required quality.
• Support commercial activities, NEC contract administration and change control processes.
• Apply project governance, reporting standards and tools across the project lifecycle and ensure compliance with SSE's governance framework.
• Undertake pre-construction and delivery activities including site visits, stakeholder engagement, risk management and technical queries.
