Job summary

Princebuild is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of quality outcomes in construction. The role requires motivation, adaptability and strong communication to help deliver projects on time and to budget.

You will work within a supportive team, participate in training and development, and benefits include a company vehicle option and competitive perks. DBS checks may be required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an assistant project manager or in project management within construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and site practices.
  • Good communication and organisational skills with a proactive attitude.
  • Willingness to undertake training and personal development.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager with managing small works projects.
  • Support Health & Safety practices and CDM regulations on site.
  • Attend regular site meetings with clients and professionals.
  • Prepare reports, programmes, progress and profitability reports.
  • Procure and manage sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Contribute to valuations and final accounts.
  • Assist with tenders and estimates.

What we need
  • Construction related qualification i.e. BSc in Construction Management, HNC/HND (preferred, but not essential)
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS or SSSTS) - desired but not required
  • Proven experience as an assistant project manager or project management in the construction industry
  • Good knowledge of construction processes
  • It would be beneficial to have experience with commercial and design-and-build projects.
  • Exceptional leadership, management and organisational skills
  • Confident with a range of IT systems and software, specifically Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Ability to read and understand drawings
  • Self-motivated, proactive and a positive attitude
  • Excellent team player with the ability to integrate and inspire others
  • Full UK driving licence (minimum 6 months' experience post-test)
  • Willingness to undertake training and personal development
  • Commitment to maintaining professional standards and continuous improvement

Job Description

Reporting to an Executive Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will support the Department to ensure that the allocated projects run efficiently, profitably and ensuring full compliance to Health & Safety legislation and contract conditions. The critical conditions being that all work is completed in a safe working manner, within programme and to the total satisfaction of our client.

Supporting the management and delivery of construction projects from design through to completion, this crucial role involves working closely with Project Managers to ensure communication, compliance and high standards are always a priority.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting the Project Manager with their managing role along with running own small works projects.
  • Supporting and monitoring Health & Safety practices and CDM Regulations on site.
  • Attendance of regular site meetings with clients and other professionals.
  • Preparation of reports, programmes, progress and profitability reports.
  • Pricing and agreeing instructions with the client or their agents.
  • Contribute to formulating valuations and final accounts.
  • Assisting with the preparation of tenders.
  • Procure, negotiate terms and monitor the performance of sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Identify and implement improvements to any aspect of the service that we provide.
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates/tenders.
  • Procurement of new clients.
  • Ensure exceptional levels of customer care at all times.
  • Produce relevant monthly reports for the Director e.g. cost and value comparisons, turnover forecasts etc. ensuring information is complete and accurate.
  • Contribute to and attend financial and progress meetings.
  • Provide support to the site team in order to optimise the use of contract resources.
  • Provide support for the Project Manager in terms of data input etc.
  • Achieving deadlines in line with requirements.
  • Provide cover for other associated staff during times of absence.
  • Regular use of our bespoke computer system and other software packages such as Word, Excel and Project.
  • Undertake duties in line with role progression and business requirements

This is a full time position and hours of work will be 42 hours per week. This will also involve daily travel and working away as deemed necessary for the needs of the business.

07:45hrs to 17:15hrs Monday to Thursday

07:45hrs to 16:45hrs Friday
