Job summary

Princebuild in Gosberton, Spalding, is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to lead SHEQ across our construction projects and wider business. You will work with Project Managers and site teams to maintain high Safety, Health and Environmental standards while upholding our Building, Sharing and Caring values.

The role requires a NEBOSH Construction Certificate, construction sector experience, and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) legislation, processes and best practice.
  • Experience of undertaking site inspections, audits, risk assessments and investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Providing practical SHEQ advice and guidance to Project Managers, Site Managers and site teams.
  • Supporting compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including the CDM Regulations and keeping up to date with current legislation, guidance and best practice.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections and audits, monitoring SHEQ standards, identifying areas for improvement and reporting findings to relevant management teams.
  • Reviewing risk assessments, method statements and other SHEQ documentation, providing advice and support where required.
  • Identifying potential operational risks and opportunities and working with project teams to develop practical and effective solutions.
  • Assisting with the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying appropriate corrective actions and supporting their implementation.
  • Supporting the delivery of SHEQ training, inductions, briefings and toolbox talks where required.
  • Maintaining accurate SHEQ records, reports and performance information.
  • Supporting the development of a strong Health & Safety culture across the Company and promoting positive safety behaviours.
  • Working collaboratively with teams to promote continuous improvement across Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality processes.

What We're Looking For

We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds and experience. To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

Essential:
  • NEBSOH Construction Certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent
  • Experience within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) legislation, processes and best practice
  • Experience of undertaking site inspections, audits, risk assessments and investigations
  • Strong leadership, organisation, and coordination skills
  • A proactive, positive, and solutions-focused approach aligned with our values of Building, Sharing, and Caring
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence using IT systems (Microsoft Office and project tools)
  • Full UK driving licence (minimum 6 months post-test experience)
  • Commitment to professional standards, learning, and continuous improvement
Desirable:
  • SMSTS or SSSTS
  • First Aid at Work certification
  • IOSH membership or working towards professional membership
  • Experience with CDM Regulations 2015, including the duties of the Principal Contractor and Principal Designer
  • Experience within a main contractor or construction environment
  • Environmental or Quality qualification, such as an IEMA or ISO-related qualification

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to an Associate Director, the Health & Safety Advisor will support the successful delivery of SHEQ across our construction projects and wider business. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, site teams and other stakeholders to ensure high standards of Health & Safety are maintained and continually improved.

This is a key role within the team, providing practical advice, promoting a positive Health & Safety culture and supporting our people to work safely and effectively while reflecting our values of Building, Sharing, and Caring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with external bodies, clients and relevant stakeholders in relation to Health & Safety matters where required.
  • Attending project and site meetings where required.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required in line with the role and the needs of the business.
Working Hours

This is a Full-time position of 42 hours per week:

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:45 - 17:15hrs
  • Friday: 07:45 - 16:45rs

Flexibility and travel (including occasional overnight stays) may be required depending on project needs.
