Job description

Wardell Armstrong LLP is currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager with approximately 2-5 years of experience in Environmental and/or Engineering, ideally including Ecology or Planning projects.

The Project Manager will work within the Commercial and Project Management Team based in our Stoke office, assisting with large-scale multi-disciplinary projects across sectors such as mineral exploration, rail (HS2), wind/solar, and construction throughout the UK and internationally. You will be involved in all aspects of the project lifecycle, from tender to completion, including pricing, cost minimization, value enhancement, and ensuring standards and quality meet contractual and client expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Producing project programmes and disseminating information to the Project Manager;
  • Managing day-to-day queries from the site team and ensuring adherence to project scope and specifications;
  • Reporting on progress against programme and budget to the Project Manager and Technical Director;
  • Managing and issuing accurate, timely, and compliant notices and correspondence;
  • Identifying contractual and commercial risks and opportunities for the Contract Leader at the pricing stage;
  • Preparing and agreeing payment applications and assessing/producing payment certificates;
  • Maintaining registers of variations, delays, extension times, and claims;
  • Assisting in change management and cost control;
  • Supporting monthly progress valuations and claims for work completed;
  • Producing monthly cost reports, forecasts, and Contract Leader Reports;
  • Ensuring health, safety, and environmental risks are addressed and communicated;
  • Conducting site visits to inspect work quality and compliance;
  • Contributing to securing repeat business through excellent service delivery.
Qualifications, Skills & Competencies:
  • Experience in project management within the development sector and a relevant degree;
  • A valid driving license and own vehicle;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Projects;
  • Experience with common construction contract conditions, particularly NEC;
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and considerations;
  • Working towards relevant professional qualifications such as APM, CEng, NECReg, or similar;
