Job Description:

Wardell Armstrong LLP is currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager with approximately 2-5 years of experience in Environmental and/or Engineering, ideally with Ecology or Planning projects.

The Project Manager will work within the Commercial and Project Management Team based in our Stoke office, assisting in various large-scale multidisciplinary projects across sectors including mineral exploration, rail (HS2), wind/solar, and construction throughout the UK and internationally. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the project lifecycle from tender to completion, contributing to pricing, and ensuring value for money while meeting standards and client expectations.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Producing project programmes and sharing information with the Project Manager;
  • Handling daily queries from the site team and ensuring adherence to project scope and specifications;
  • Reporting progress against schedule and budget to the Project Manager and Technical Director;
  • Managing notices and correspondence efficiently and accurately;
  • Identifying contractual and commercial risks and opportunities during pricing;
  • Preparing and reviewing payment applications and certificates;
  • Maintaining registers for variations, delays, and claims;
  • Supporting change management and cost control;
  • Assisting with monthly progress valuations, claims, and cost reports;
  • Ensuring health, safety, and environmental risks are addressed;
  • Conducting site visits to inspect work quality and compliance;
  • Contributing to securing repeat clients through excellent service.
Qualifications, Skills & Competencies:
  • Experience in project management within the development sector and relevant degree;
  • Driving license and own vehicle;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Projects;
  • Understanding of construction contracts, especially NEC;
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation;
  • Working towards relevant professional qualifications such as APM, CEng, NECReg;
  • Commercial awareness.
