Job summary

Assystem in Glasgow seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support delivery of capital infrastructure projects within a challenging, multi-programme environment. You will assist the Project Manager with scope, budgeting, and performance oversight across the supply chain.

You will apply programme management tools and NEC awareness to help deliver outputs on time and in budget, with hybrid working from Glasgow city centre and occasional client-site visits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years post graduate experience
• Desirable NEC PM accreditation
• Membership of relevant professional body
• M&E background

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager (PM) and wider project team to successfully deliver project objectives.
• Assist with contract management and administration activities.
• Support project budget management, monitoring expenditure against approved budgets.
• Contribute to project assurance and gateway reviews, assessing progress, compliance, risks and delivery confidence.
• Ensure compliance with all client processes, procedures and infrastructure requirements.
• Monitor performance of internal teams, suppliers and technical support providers against contractual obligations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the supply chain throughout project delivery.
• Review and challenge cost and schedule estimates, identifying key milestones and critical dates.
• Track project financial performance, preparing reports and cost forecasts for stakeholders.
• Analyse financial metrics and trends to support cost forecasting and estimate final project costs accurately.

The role of the APM supports the Client PM looking inward about delivery and performance (affordability challenge, completion of scope, keeping an eye on emerging Critical Works) The APM will support the PM to ensure the successful delivery of capital infrastructure projects and achieve project outputs.

The role of the APM supports the Client PM looking inward about delivery and performance (affordability challenge, completion of scope, keeping an eye on emerging Critical Works) The APM will support the PM to ensure the successful delivery of capital infrastructure projects and achieve project outputs.

Infrastructure delivery is a challenging environment in which to work, with interdependencies between the required programmes and projects and the need to maintain military outputs. The candidate will be required to deliver at pace and demonstrate effective application of programme and project management skills, tools and techniques.

The aim is to provide flexible resource across the two projects to help with peaks of work and aspects of consistency

Reviews proposed changes and determines their high-level impact, requesting further information or clarification where necessary. Assesses all options relating to the proposed changes and estimates their impacts.

Additional Information

Umbrella Contractor or Permanent Staff position

The role would typically be expected to be conducted in a hybrid arrangement from Glasgow City Centre (3 days office, 2 days WFH). There may be occasional visits to the client site in Helensburgh when needed.

Security Clearance will need to be gained for this role: You will be required to hold a Sole British Passport.
