The opportunity

Please note this is a Fixed Term 12 month contract.

Are you interested in being an integral part of high performing teams delivering advanced technical capabilities and services? We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals experienced in Project Planning at the programme or portfolio level to join our growing Project Controls team.

We are seeking a Project Controller to deliver Project Controls activities into large-scale complex development and production projects within our Combat Air Business Area. The Combat Air Business Area spans current and future fighter programmes, including leadership of the EuroDASS Consortium for the Praetorian Defensive Aids Sub-System for the EuroFighter Typhoon, and capabilities for the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), the UK’s 6th Generation Combat Aircraft.

Working closely as part of the Development IPT (Integrated Project Team), this role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects providing capabilities and services to various international and national stakeholders.

What you’ll do as a Project Controller

• Deliver Project Controls on Projects through applying consistent processes, methods, governance, and providing guidance to the wider IPT in line with Leonardo processes.
• Own the Project Schedules, promoting optimal schedule quality and best practice management, including schedule risk analysis at all project lifecycle stages.
• Apply resource scheduling techniques to optimize schedules, identify, and resolve conflicts.
• Support the establishment and management of activities in the bid phase, ensuring best practices, risk management, and smooth schedule transition to execution.
• Conduct 'what-if' analysis for decision-making and risk mitigation.
• Apply Schedule Risk Analysis techniques, including identification, analysis methods, and recommendations for the project team.
• Use Project Controls metrics and measures (including EV) and report outcomes to IPT / PCM, along with recommendations.
• Contribute to IPT and Business area Project reviews by delivering Project Controls inputs.
• Build and maintain good relationships across functions to influence project activities.

What We Need From You

You really must have

• Effective collaboration skills with internal stakeholders, supported by data and analysis.
• Good business knowledge for 'what-if' scenarios.
• Ability to work independently within well-defined procedures with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to learn new tools and software.
• Experience managing company data, databases, CRM systems, etc.

It would be nice if you had

• Hold APMG Project Controls Foundation and Practitioner Level Certification or meet the criteria for this training.
• Practical experience in Project Planning and Control principles.
• Experience with techniques like Earned Value, Work Breakdown Structure, and Network Planning.
• Proficiency in SAP/Primavera or similar planning tools.
• Understanding of all project lifecycle phases, especially Planning and Execution.
