Assistant Production Editor (homepage editor)

We are seeking an Assistant Production Editor (Homepage Editor) to produce the Guardian's Europe, international, and UK homepages to high standards as part of the digital editing team.

This is a permanent NUJ contract with a 9-day fortnight work pattern, including some weekend work.

About the Role
  • Edit and maintain the Guardian's UK, Europe, and international homepages on web and apps, as directed by the Head of Digital.
  • Ensure adherence to Guardian style and maintain high-quality standards for homepages and featured stories.
  • Send breaking news alerts when necessary.
  • Oversee live blogs as required.
  • Use analytics tools to inform homepage content decisions.
  • Collaborate with the digital editing team, newsdesks, section editors, design, visuals, video, community, and audience teams to optimize digital output.
About You
  • Experience editing homepages and articles.
  • Significant experience working in a live newsroom at a national or international news organization.
  • Strong understanding of digital tools and content management systems.
  • Knowledge of analytics, search, and digital audience measurement targets.
  • A clear vision aligning with the Guardian's purpose and aims.
