Assistant Product Manager (Chemical Distributor), Cambridge

Are you passionate about product management and looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and fast-paced environment?

I am working in partnership with a company that is looking to expand their product team. They are seeking a Product Management Assistant who will support the Product Managers and Head of Product Management in driving their product and development activities.

Job Purpose:

The Product Management Assistant will work closely with and support the product team on various product and development activities, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all aspects of the process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Pricing: Calculate cost pricing and support the sales teams with all product-related matters.
  • Supplier Liaison: Liaise with suppliers and global product managers regarding product availability and price developments.
  • Market Monitoring: Actively monitor price and market developments of the product portfolio.
  • Supply Chain Oversight: Oversee the supply chain of goods, ensuring efficiency in all aspects of the process.
  • Demand Forecasting: Prepare demand forecasts in close dialogue with the sales teams and Head of Product Management.
  • Inventory Management: Regularly liaise with operations on the levels of inventory at warehouses.
  • Sample Management: Coordinate and organise sample management, liaising with sales and logistics on sample ordering and dispatch from supplier to the warehouse.
Technical Skills:
  • Numeracy: Highly numerate with the ability to calculate pricing, margins, and costs.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent listening skills and the ability to pay great attention to detail.
  • Technical Proficiency: Must be adept in the use of MS Office, Excel, Word, Internet, and email. Experience with CRM and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Industry Knowledge: Ideally, experience in an international trading and/or distribution environment and familiarity with incoterms.
  • Documentation: Ability to maintain accurate documentation and work with business processes, policies, and priorities.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Customer Focus: A good understanding of the needs of customers.
  • Motivation: Strong motivational skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Organisation: Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
