Help Build the Brand People Actually Care About

We’re Pipin. We’re building a personal finance management app for people who know they can get more out of money but don't want to sit through a tutorial on money in their spare time. Our app means no more budgeting spreadsheets, no doom graphs, and, most importantly, no shame. Just helpful nudges that make managing your money feel less like a panic attack and more like a managed plan.

The product’s being built. The foundations are strong. What we need now is someone to lead how we show up in the world – how we sound, how we grow, and how we stick in people’s heads.

That’s where you come in.

The Role

This is a freelance, part-time gig (1 day a week) to lead all things marketing, from strategy through to execution. Sounds impossible, right? We know. The role has been designed to fit around a typical working week, recognising that many of our team currently balance Pipin with other professional commitments.

You’ll work closely with the founder and collaborate across the teams to:

  • Refine our brand essence, including our voice, visual identity, and messaging frameworks.
  • Strategise, plan, and run marketing campaigns that grow awareness and engagement.
  • Build our presence (with a focus on consistency, not volume or virality).
  • Create content that people actually want to read, watch, and share.
  • Set up lightweight processes and performance reporting so we know what’s working.

It’s part brand strategist, part content lead, part digital marketeer, with full ownership from day one. You’ll be part of our small core team, which means more creative input and autonomy. We understand this role covers a lot, and right now, that’s the nature of the job. But at its core, your focus is to make Pipin seen, understood, and remembered. Over time, this role will shift from campaign execution to more strategic brand leadership, creative direction, and strategic oversight, with the possibility to step into a full-time leadership role as we grow.

Who This Might Suit

  • You’ve built or grown a brand before, ideally from early stage.
  • You’re confident writing copy that’s clear and sounds human (hard these days, ay. Aye.).
  • You understand digital performance without needing a 20-tab dashboard.
  • You’ve run campaigns across different channels and know how to pick the right tool for the job.
  • You’re good at zooming out (positioning, story, strategy) and zooming in (caption, CTA, content edits).
  • You don’t wait to be told what to do.
  • You care about building something useful.
  • You're curious, playful, excitable and energetic.

Bonus points if you’ve worked in startups, fintech, wellness, or consumer apps, but we’re more interested in your brain than your CV. You’ll be a core part of how Pipin shows up in the world. If you're excited by building brands that make people feel something, this is your seat at the table.

A Quick Note

This role is designed to sit alongside a full-time job, not replace one.

It’s ideal for someone who’s curious about the startup world, wants to stretch their creative muscles, and is up for helping build something meaningful in their spare time. It won’t suit someone looking for a full-time role right now. But if you’ve got solid experience, a stable setup, and a bit of headspace for something exciting on the side, this could be a great fit.

There’s potential for this to evolve into a full-time senior role as we grow and raise further funding. But for now, think of it as a side project with purpose (and a future).

  • £132/day freelance rate, based on c.1 day/week commitment.
  • Equity potential depending on contribution.

We’re early-stage. The app is in development. We’re funded enough to build properly, but not so much that we’ve lost the plot. Investors are paying attention. The opportunity’s real. We’re still developing, gaining investment and learning.

We care about doing this properly. With clarity, empathy, and the occasional terrible joke.
