Job Advert: Assistant Planner

Location: Newport, UK

Salary Range: GBP23,000 - GBP30,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

My client, a well-established Planning and Development Consultancy, is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Planner to join their dynamic team in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their career in town planning, contributing to innovative and impactful projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct site research to support planning advice and strategy, including undertaking site visits.
  2. Review planning policy documents and evidence bases to prepare clear and concise planning policy reviews.
  3. Undertake planning history reviews.
  4. Draft application forms, covering letters, and sections of planning appraisals/statements.
  5. Assist in the preparation of site appraisals and planning applications.
  6. Help coordinate client meetings and presentations to discuss project progress.
  7. Maintain project documentation, reports, and correspondence.
  8. Assist in the preparation of project sheets.
  9. Support senior team members in preparation for planning committee meetings.
Qualifications & Skills:
  1. A Master's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  2. Experience in town planning is preferred.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
