Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Edinburgh is seeking an Assistant Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to join our UK Water team. You will develop computer models to investigate network issues, analyse data and support reports and project deliverables.

Experience with urban drainage modelling (InfoWorks ICM/CS) and GIS tools (ArcGIS, MapInfo) is helpful; full training will be provided. The role offers a collaborative, hybrid-working environment and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Awareness of urban drainage modelling in InfoWorks ICM/CS is advantageous.
• Familiarity with GIS packages such as ArcGIS or MapInfo is desirable.
• Full on-the-job training will be provided where required.

Our collaborative and multi-disciplinary team is one of the largest in the UK, providing water and wastewater infrastructure services alongside drainage design, SuDS and surface water management. Our wide variety of clients span across the UK and internationally and include water companies, local authorities, highways / rail authorities, and developers.

It's an exciting time to be working for our UK Water business with unprecedented investment in the water industry. Due to continued framework successes, we seek to recruit an Assistant Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to join our Wastewater Team in Edinburgh.

Your role

• Development of computer models to investigate network issues and investment needs and generation of outline solutions.
• Analysis of data.
• Support development of reports and other project deliverables.
• Prepare (and adhere to) health and safety risk assessments.
• Contributing towards technical innovation.

About you

Awareness of urban drainage modelling within InfoWorks ICM (or CS), GIS packages such as ARC or MapInfo and civil engineering would be advantageous but not essential as full on the job training will be provided where required.

This role will involve working on feasibility studies, using computer analysis typically to support flooding and environmental improvement projects, site visits and liaison with clients, contractors, stakeholders and other professional bodies. The output will typically be in short reports to outline the approach taken and findings from the investigation.

Desirable requirements

• Understanding of UK Water Industry and regulatory issue.
• Awareness of Wastewater modelling and distribution networks.
• Awareness of InfoWorks ICM (or CS) and other modelling software.
• Experience in GIS packages.
