AtkinsRéalis is recruiting a Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller for the UK Water business. You will develop InfoWorks ICM models to diagnose wastewater network issues, analyse datasets, and support asset investment decisions for clients including water companies and authorities.
The role requires strong experience in urban drainage modelling, GIS (ArcGIS/MapInfo), and delivering technical reports. Mentoring and tender support may be involved, with opportunities for travel and site visits.

Our collaborative and multi‑disciplinary team is one of the largest in the UK, providing water and wastewater infrastructure services alongside drainage design, SuDS and surface water management. Clients span UK and international water companies, local authorities, highway/rail authorities and developers.
It is an exciting time to be working for our UK Water business amid unprecedented investment in the industry. We are looking to recruit a Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller across our UK offices to support client requirements. All listed UK offices are potential home office locations.
The role will involve working with engineers, modellers, geographers, GIS specialists and technicians to deliver solutions to Water Companies, Local Authorities, developers and, where applicable, international projects.
You will bring proven experience in urban drainage modelling using InfoWorks ICM, ideally gained within the UK regulated water industry. We welcome applicants at all experience levels—appointments will be made based on merit and aligned to individual expertise.
You will be proficient in GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or MapInfo. A background in civil engineering or experience working with engineered solutions is desirable.
You will play a key role in delivering ICM modelling and solution‑development expertise to support clients’ environmental improvement projects, particularly relating to storm overflows. The role may involve site visits and regular liaison with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and other professional bodies. Typical outputs will include concise technical reports summarising methodologies, approaches taken, and key findings from your investigations.
We welcome applicants with experience in model build and verification, hydraulic and water quality analysis, catchment planning, Drainage and Wastewater Management Planning (DWMP), solution development, and technical leadership.
