Job summary

ProMatch invites applications for a practical, hands-on Mechanical Engineering Assistant to join our client's team in Sutherland. You will work alongside the Engineering Manager and site teams to keep equipment running safely and efficiently across seawater and freshwater operations, including boats, lifting gear, vehicles, and site machinery.

This role suits someone with on-site mechanical skills gained in farming, marine, or vehicle maintenance environments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical experience in farming, marine, or vehicle maintenance environments.
• Ability to use tools and operate equipment safely.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety practices and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair machinery, boats, lifting equipment and vehicles.
• Support moorings work and assist site teams with day-to-day operations.
• Spot and report equipment issues to reduce downtime and costs; follow Health & Safety and fish welfare standards.
• Help with waste management and upkeep of equipment.
• Take part in training, support new staff and cover occasional out-of-hours duties

ProMatch is recruiting for a practical, hands-on Mechanical Engineering Assistant to join our client’s team in Sutherland. The company is a leader in responsible aquaculture, producing premium salmon through low-impact farming methods across remote coastal sites.

This role is ideal for someone who has built mechanical skills through their work experience whether from farming, marine work, vehicle maintenance or other hands-on environments. About the Role

Working alongside the Engineering Manager and site teams, you’ll help keep equipment running safely and efficiently across seawater and freshwater operations. From boats and lifting gear to vehicles and site machinery, you’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth operations, fish welfare and environmental responsibility

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair machinery, boats, lifting equipment and vehicles

What We’re Looking For

• Practical mechanical experience - you do not need to be fully qualified
• Confidence using tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Awareness of Health & Safety and willingness to follow company standards
• A problem-solving mindset and good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Due to location a full driving licence and own transport
• Willingness to learn and take on training
