Job summary

Harrods is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead the Cleaning Operations within our luxury department store. You will manage a team of 3 direct and 18 indirect reports, ensuring up-to-date people management, performance conversations, upskilling and training.

You must work on a 5-out-of-7 rota, including weekends and bank holidays, with day shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. As a proactive leader, you will allocate tasks, oversee recycling activity, manage cleaning materials and equipment, and adapt

Qualifications

• Experience as an Assistant Manager in a cleaning environment or similar operation requiring reactive and proactive mentality.
• Front-line leadership with operatives and team leaders.
• Strong communication to address challenges.
• Good HR policy awareness and application for people policies.
• Adaptable to unexpected situations with quick problem solving.
• Demonstrate resilience with calm, level-headed approach.
• Fully flexible to work 5 out of 7 days including weekends/evenings/bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Be a present, proactive and driven leader to your team of direct and indirect reports, lead from the front with a clear focus on leading through your people to deliver excellence.
• Take full accountability in organising the allocation of the Cleaning Operations and Team Leaders - always reviewing business needs and working on solutions and actions to overcome challenges faced.
• Introduce and oversee the recycling activity within the function; training and coaching your team of Operatives to ensure they collect and dispose of waste in line with our sustainability commitments.
• Help manage the use of, ordering of and storage of cleaning materials, uniforms and equipment ensuring that they are always safe, available and that the teams are confidently trained.
• Pivot the operation between the routine cleaning, the daily work and the reactive needs -constantly reviewing the priorities as the shift unfolds.
• Get the very best out of your people with proactive and consistent coaching.
