Job summary

Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of a busy donation centre and multiple shop locations. The role includes receiving donations, coordinating collections, and ensuring efficient processing and redistribution to SATCoL shops while promoting reuse and community engagement.

The successful candidate will manage customer queries, assist with opening/closing duties and contribute to recruiting and training volunteers and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the manager with day-to-day running of all business areas.
  • Receive donations and organise collections from houses and other locations.
  • Coordinate processing and distribution to SATCoL shops and redistribution.
  • Support the repair and reuse service to divert items from landfill where possible.
  • Respond to queries from customers, head office and team; manage opening/closing of the centre.
  • Involve in recruitment and training of volunteers and staff.

As the Assistant Manager you will be supporting the manager in the day to day running of all areas of the business. This will include receiving donations,as well as organising collections from private houses and other locations. All of which will be processed and delivered to local SA shops, sold on the premises or redistributed. We will also be offering a repair and reuse service to the community, which helps divert as many unwanted goods away from landfill where practical.

This is a very 'hands on' role and you will be expected to respond to queries raised by customers, head office and the team. On a regular basis you will have the responsibility for opening and closing the centre and be involved in the ongoing recruitment and training of volunteers and staff.
