Job summary

Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) is seeking a Temporary Sales Assistant to cover maternity leave for 22.5 hours per week in Scotland. You will work with volunteers to keep the shop thriving, assist customers, and promoteGift Aid and store promotions.

The role focuses on delivering high standards of customer service, supporting the Shop Manager, and maintaining shop operations in line with SATCoL values. Shift pattern is Monday–Saturday with no evenings or Sundays.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer focused roles, paid or voluntary.
• Friendly and positive outlook.
• Available to cover maternity leave on a part-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of visual merchandising throughout the shop.
• Assist customers from entry to purchase.
• Explain Gift Aid and other promotions to customers.
• Handle all paperwork including cashing up and banking procedures.
• Encourage and assist in training volunteers.
• Sort and prepare donated stock.
• Travel to other shops within cluster as required.
• Support Shop Manager with Health and Safety procedures.
• Oversee daily running of shop and volunteers in Manager's absence.
• Reflect SATCoL visions and values in personal conduct.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Temporary Sales Assistant, to cover maternity leave for 22.5 hours per week. If you have had customer focussed experience, whether in paid or voluntary roles and have a friendly and positive outlook then we are looking for you to assist our Shop Manager and team of hardworking volunteers to make our shop be as successful as it can possibly be.

• Help to maintain high standards of visual merchandising throughout the shop
• Assist our customers throughout their visit, from entering the shop to completing their purchase
• Actively promote and explain the benefits of Gift Aid to customers and other various promotions
• Complete all company paperwork, including cashing up and banking procedures
• Encourage and assist in the training of volunteers
• Assist in the sorting and preparation of all donated stock
• Travel to other shops if part of a cluster from time to time
• Support the Shop Manager in all aspects of best practice and Health and Safety Procedures
• Be responsible for the daily running of the shop and management of volunteers in the Managers absence
• Ensure that personal behaviour reflects the visions and values of the company
