Job summary

The Leicester Arms, a bustling country pub and inn in Penshurst, is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to join the management team. The venue is part of Little & Large Pub Company and features a restaurant, bar, 11 bedrooms, private dining and events.

Working with the General Manager, you will lead front-of-house teams, supervise service, manage shifts and help deliver exceptional hospitality, guest experience and commercial performance across food, beverage and accommodation.

Qualifications

• Has previous management experience within a quality pub, restaurant, hotel or hospitality business.
• Is confident running a busy service.
• Leads from the front and develops people.
• Understands labour management and cost control.
• Wants to progress their hospitality career within a growing independent pub company.

Responsibilities

• Lead busy restaurant and bar services.
• Support the General Manager with daily operations.
• Train, develop and motivate the front-of-house team.
• Ensure consistently high guest service standards.
• Manage shifts, briefings and team deployment.
• Handle guest feedback and resolve issues professionally.
• Maintain cleanliness, presentation and attention to detail.
• Support bedroom operations and accommodation standards.
• Help manage rotas, labour costs and payroll controls.
• Monitor sales, service standards and KPIs.
• Support stock control, ordering and cash management.
• Deliver private events and functions.
• Ensure licensing, health & safety and compliance standards are followed.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development.
• Take responsibility for the venue when the General Manager is not present.

The Leicester Arms is looking for an experienced, energetic and hands-on Assistant General Manager to join our management team at our beautiful country pub and inn in the heart of Penshurst.
Part of the Little & Large Pub Company, The Leicester Arms combines a busy restaurant and bar with 11 individually designed bedrooms, private dining, events and a large garden. Following an extensive refurbishment, the pub has established itself as a destination for great food, drinks, stays and genuine hospitality.
We’re looking for someone who loves being on the floor, enjoys leading a team and understands that great hospitality comes from consistently getting the little things right.
The Role
Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the business and help ensure consistently high standards across food, drink, bedrooms and guest experience.
Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Leading busy restaurant and bar services
• Supporting the General Manager with the daily operation of the business
• Training, developing and motivating the front-of-house team
• Ensuring consistently high standards of guest service
• Managing shifts, briefings and team deployment

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and attention to detail

• Helping deliver private events, celebrations and functions
• Ensuring company procedures, licensing, health & safety and compliance standards are followed

• Taking responsibility for the venue when the General Manager is not present

About You

Experience within a business combining food, beverage and bedrooms would be particularly beneficial.
