  • Deliver excellent customer service and ensure guests have a positive experience.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally.
  • Build relationships with regular customers.
  • Support recruitment, training, and development of staff.
  • Supervise bar staff, servers, and support team members.
  • Create or assist with staff rotas.
  • Ensure staff follow company standards and policies.
  • Assist with ordering stock (beer, spirits, wine, food).
  • Monitor inventory levels and reduce wastage.
  • Receive and check deliveries.
  • Assist with cash handling and till reconciliation.
  • Monitor sales and help achieve financial targets.
  • Support cost control and waste reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws and responsible alcohol service.
  • Follow health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain food hygiene standards where food is served.

Job description

The Pub Assistant Manager helps oversee daily pub operations, ensuring high standards of customer service, staff performance, food and drink quality, and compliance with health and licensing regulations. They support the manager in supervising staff, handling customer issues, managing stock, and maintaining a welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Daily Operations
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day running of the pub.

  • Ensure the venue is clean, safe, and ready for service.

  • Open or close the pub when required.

  • Maintain smooth service during busy periods.

Customer Service
  • Deliver excellent customer service and ensure guests have a positive experience.

  • Handle customer complaints professionally.
