Job summary

The Golden Hind, Cambridge, part of Greene King, is seeking an Assistant Manager to join the management team. You’ll be visible on the floor, lead service, hospitality and customer experiences, and work closely with the General Manager to drive the pub forward.

You will motivate and develop the team, take ownership of shifts, identify opportunities to grow the business, drive sales across food, drinks, events and live sport, and help deliver high standards across service, safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Assistant Manager or hospitality leadership role.
• Experience in a busy pub/restaurant environment.
• Passion for creating great customer experiences and building guest relationships.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Commercial mindset with an eye for opportunities to drive sales.
• High standards across service, food, safety and compliance.
• Personal Licence or ability to obtain one.

What's the opportunity?

As Assistant Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the management team, working closely with the General Manager to drive the pub forward and deliver brilliant experiences for our customers.

You’ll be a visible leader on the floor, helping to create a positive atmosphere for both customers and the team.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub and lead the business in their absence.

Qualifications

What we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who has energy, ambition and a genuine passion for hospitality.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader or similar hospitality leadership role.
• Experience working in a busy pub, restaurant, bar or hospitality environment.
• A passion for creating great customer experiences and building relationships with guests.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• The confidence to take ownership and lead a busy shift.
• A hands-on approach – you’ll be happy getting stuck in alongside your team.
• A commercial mindset and an eye for opportunities to drive sales and grow the business.
• High standards and attention to detail across service, food, safety and compliance.
• The ambition to progress your career and make the most of the opportunities at Greene King.
• A Personal Licence, or the ability to obtain one.
