Greene King is seeking an Assistant Manager / Bar Manager to lead a busy pub in the heart of the community, working with the General Manager to ensure smooth service.

You will drive wet sales, develop a high‑performing bar team, own stock control and wastage, and support all areas of the pub operation.

This role combines frontline leadership with site‑level management in the General Manager’s absence, with a competitive salary and employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in hospitality leadership roles such as Assistant Manager, Bar Manager or Supervisor.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Experience managing stock, ordering, wastage and costs in a busy pub environment.

Job description

As an Assistant Manager / Bar Manager, you\'ll be at the heart of our management team, helping to ensure the smooth running of a busy pub while taking ownership of the bar operation. Working closely with the General Manager, you\'ll lead from the front, creating memorable customer experiences, driving wet sales, and developing a high-performing team. While this role has a strong focus on the bar, it is also a key Assistant Manager position within the business. You\'ll support all areas of the pub operation, help deliver commercial targets, and take responsibility for the overall running of the site in the General Manager\'s absence.

• Support the General Manager in all aspects of running the business, taking responsibility for the pub in their absence.
• Lead and develop the bar team to deliver exceptional service and maximise sales opportunities.
• Take ownership of stock control, ordering, wastage management and bar profitability.
• Support recruitment, training, coaching and performance management across the wider pub team.

• Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Bar Manager or Supervisor within a busy hospitality environment.

• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Experience managing stock, ordering and controlling waste and costs.
• The ability to think on your feet and adapt to challenges during busy service periods.
• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
• Knowledge of drinks, cocktails and premium products would be advantageous.
• Sufficient spoken and written English to perform the role safely and understand allergen controls.
