Job summary

Trostan Dene Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to support the finance team from Haslingden on a permanent basis.

The role focuses on month-end activities, reconciliations, and supporting audits, with a clear path to becoming a fully-qualified Management Accountant as you progress. As part of the finance team, you will assist with VAT reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis while maintaining strong control over inventories and supplier payments.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts assistant or assistant accountant role.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end activities, including journals for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, payroll and other adjustments.
• Maintain and reconcile accruals, prepayments and fixed asset schedules.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Support VAT, ESL, Intrastat and other compliance reporting.
• Assist with annual budgets and forecasts, working with budget holders and operational teams.
• Analyse actuals against budget, forecast and prior periods, highlighting variances, risks and opportunities.
• Analyse manufacturing variances across materials, labour, overheads, yield and usage.
• Support stock checks, stocktakes, inventory valuation and investigation of stock discrepancies.
• Prepare audit schedules, statutory accounts information and respond to audit queries.
• Manage bank reconciliations, support credit control, process purchase invoices and prepare supplier payment runs.
