Morgan McKinley (South West) is hiring an Assistant Management Accountant on a 3-month temporary basis. The role supports monthly management accounts, month-end reporting and budgeting processes within a busy finance team.

Ideal candidates will have exposure to financial reporting and a strong Excel skill set, with experience using accounting software. AAT qualification or equivalent experience would be beneficial.

Assistant Management Accountant

Contract: 3-month temporary position

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a busy finance team on an initial 3-month temporary basis. This role would suit an experienced Assistant Management Accountant or a Finance Assistant who has exposure to financial reporting and is looking to build on their existing experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and month-end reporting.
• Produce regular financial reports, analysing actual and forecast expenditure.
• Monitor budgets, income and expenditure, highlighting any variances.
• Assist with forecasting, financial modelling and scenario analysis.
• Support reconciliations, journal postings and monitoring financial balances.
• Provide financial information and reporting to support budget holders and managers.
• Assist with grant claims and monitoring restricted funds.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, spreadsheets and financial trackers.
• Complete ad hoc finance duties as required.

About You

• Previous experience in a finance role, ideally as an Assistant Management Accountant or Finance Assistant.
• Exposure to financial reporting, management accounts or month-end processes is essential.
• Good Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Organised, able to manage deadlines and prioritise workloads.
• Confident communicating financial information and working with stakeholders.
• AAT qualification or equivalent practical experience would be beneficial.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong transactional finance background and reporting exposure to gain further management accounting experience within a varied, hands-on role.
