Job summary

Morgan McKinley (South West) is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant for an initial 3-month temporary assignment in Gloucester. The role suits someone with exposure to financial reporting and a transactional finance background.

You will support monthly management accounts, variance analysis, forecasting and reporting to budget holders, while using Excel and accounting software to drive accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance role, ideally as Assistant Management Accountant or Finance Assistant.
• Exposure to financial reporting, management accounts or month-end processes.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy.
• Organised and able to manage deadlines and prioritise workloads.
• Confident communicating financial information and working with stakeholders.
• AAT qualification or equivalent practical experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and month-end reporting.
• Produce regular financial reports, analysing actual and forecast expenditure.
• Monitor budgets, income and expenditure, highlighting any variances.
• Assist with forecasting, financial modelling and scenario analysis.
• Support reconciliations, journal postings and monitoring financial balances.
• Provide financial information and reporting to support budget holders and managers.
• Assist with grant claims and monitoring restricted funds.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, spreadsheets and financial trackers.
• Complete ad hoc finance duties as required.

This role would suit an experienced Assistant Management Accountant or a Finance Assistant who has exposure to financial reporting and is looking to build on their existing experience.
