Job summary

Accountancy Action is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant in the United Kingdom to join a fast-paced finance team. You will work alongside experienced professionals, developing technical accounting skills and gaining exposure to the full management accounts process.

Ideal candidates are studying AAT/ACCA/CIMA (or planning to) and are looking for development-focused finance roles with clear progression and hands-on experience from day one.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a finance or accounts role.
• Desire to progress into Management Accounts.
• Strong Excel and general systems skills, with the ability to quickly learn new software.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders across the business.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to take ownership and continually improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing meaningful analysis to support business decisions.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances.
• Process accruals, prepayments and journals.
• Assist with the financial set-up of new sites.
• Review financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
• Calculate client revenue share payments.
• Raise self-bill invoices and process client payments.
• Partner with Management Accountants and operational teams to resolve revenue-related queries.
• Assist with the preparation of half-year and year-end audit files.
• Support continuous improvements to financial processes and reporting.

The Opportunity

This is far more than a transactional finance role. You'll become an integral part of the finance team, supporting the production of management accounts while partnering with operational stakeholders across the business.
