Able Bridge Recruitment Ltd is assisting a services business on the outskirts of Stirling to recruit an assistant accountant. The role is office-based five days a week, reporting to the head of financial reporting, and sits within a collaborative finance team working on management reporting and stock accounting.

The successful candidate will have CIMA/ACCA part qualification with at least five years of UK accounting experience, including stock/inventory accounting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years accounting experience in the UK.
• Part qualified CIMA/ACCA required.
• Experience in assistant management accounting and stock/inventory accounting in a services business.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly management accounts (multi-currency).
• Analyse product margins and variances.
• Support stock and inventory reporting.
• Maintain ledgers for subsidiary companies.
• Assist with year-end, audits and regulatory reporting.
• Reconcile stock to GL and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare stock ageing reports and assist with stock counts.
• Provide finance support to operational teams on stock queries.
• Assist with VAT returns and wider tax compliance.
• Support ERP stock modules (Intact IQ, Business Central).
• Contribute to improving finance processes and reporting accuracy.
• Assist with reconciliations, journals and month-end tasks.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis.

Able Bridge Recruitment are delighted to be working with a services business on the outskirts of Stirling in the recruitment of an assistant accountant.

This vacancy, the result of an employee moving into a more senior role and will be office based for at 5 days per week.

Reporting to the head of financial reporting this role will be an intrinsic part of the accounting and finance team.

The Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to provide support in the preparation of monthly management reports/accounts, as well as assisting in stock accounting tasks. You will also be required to work with operational teams in the facilitation of accounting process improvements and deep insight into financial matters.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;

• Assist with monthly management accounts (including multi-currency reporting)
• Analyse product margin reports and investigate variances
• Support stock and inventory reporting
• Maintain financial ledgers for subsidiary companies
• Assist with year-end, audit, and regulatory reporting
• Reconcile stock to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare and distribute stock ageing reports
• Support stock counts and audits
• Provide finance support to operational teams on stock-related queries
• Assist with VAT returns and wider tax compliance
• Support customs and duty processes
• Help prepare information for audits and regulatory submissions
• Support ERP systems (Intact IQ / Business Central), particularly stock modules
• Contribute to improving finance processes and reporting accuracy
• Assist with reconciliations, journals, and month-end tasks
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis
• Build strong working relationships across the business

The Requirements

We are looking for a CIMA/ACCA part qualified assistant accountant who has a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience (gained within the UK). Our client is looking for an individual who has relevant assistant management accounting and stock/inventory management accounting experience ideally within a services business. Our client prides itself on fostering a collaborative and together working environment so candidates will need to be inclusive and team players. You will have to have a proactive, can-do attitude and be able to work on your own initiative. Soft skills that would be vital for this role include attention to detail, strong analytical skills and being highly organised.
