Job Description:
Job Title: Assistant / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor
Sector: Building / Construction projects
Projects include: Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, Residential, Retail, Leisure
Duties:
- Assist in managing cash flows, budgets, and financial information according to company policies.
- Establish project budgets and allocate cost codes for detailed cost reporting.
- Collaborate across departments to improve cost effectiveness and ensure timely project delivery, providing cost advice as needed.
- Review main contract and subcontract terms, including deriving subcontract conditions from main contracts.
- Monitor, reconcile, and recharge shared costs with internal teams and external companies.
- Procure subcontract packages, including preparing tender documentation.
- Report on costs to date and forecast costs to completion transparently.
- Administer contracts and subcontracts, including handling delays and related claims.
- Coordinate with the Employers team on commercial aspects.
- Manage staff resources to control project costs effectively.
- Perform delay analysis and prepare narratives and loss/expense claims.
- Handle subcontract issues promptly.
- Ensure variation and compensation mechanisms are followed to protect the business.
- Forecast cash flow and compile budgets.
- Coordinate with procurement on allowances.
- Attend progress and commercial meetings, representing the company.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience with general building contractors on similar projects.
- Experience with JCT D&B contracts preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Strong understanding of surveying, contractual procedures, and financial implications.
- In-depth construction industry knowledge.
- Familiarity with commercial and financial management systems.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
