Job summary

North Wales Police is seeking an Assistant Intelligence Analyst to join the intelligence units. You’ll provide a research capability to support Intelligence Analysts and Field Intelligence Officers, with fully structured training and ongoing support to help you thrive in the role.

The position is offered as a part-time role with a permanent contract in a hybrid working environment. Welsh language ability (level 2) is requested, and the closing date is 17 September 2026.

Qualifications

• A levels / HNC or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
• Proficient IT skills including Excel and Access.
• Experience handling large data sets and producing MI.
• Strong written and oral communication.
• Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide research support within intelligence units.
• Produce briefings, management information and statistics.
• Support Intelligence Analysts and Field Intelligence Officers.

Assistant Intelligence Analyst

Role Purpose

This is an outstanding career opportunity to make a real impact within North Wales Police, where you’ll provide a research capability within intelligence units in support of Intelligence Analysts and Field Intelligence Officers. You’ll be working alongside a substantial team of experts and will receive fully structured training and continued support to ensure you thrive within the role.

Essential

• A levels / HNC or equivalent qualification in relevant subjects, or a proven level of relevant experience.
• The use of IT to an intermediate level that includes a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Access and Excel
• Experience of assimilating large quantities of data and providing briefings, management information and statistics.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proven ability to work as an effective member of a team.
• Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines in high-pressure environments.

Desirable

• Motivation to pursue a career in intelligence analysis
• Knowledge and experience or geographical information systems and i2 analysis software.
• Knowledge of law enforcement tactics and procedures.
• Research skills gained within a law enforcement or other relevant environment.
