Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT) invites applications for an Assistant Headteacher at Rawmarsh Ashwood Primary School. You will join the Senior Leadership Team, work with the Headteacher to drive teaching excellence, student voice, personal development and 'The School Way'.

The role combines strategic leadership with classroom practice, leading on The School Way and the Student Council, overseeing careers education, safeguarding links, and coaching staff to raise attainment across the school.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in primary setting, senior or middle leadership experience.
• Experience with SEND; SEND qualification desirable, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Direct the SDP with the Headteacher, support day-to-day management including recruitment and safety.
• Specific Portfolios: Lead on The School Way and student Pledges, oversee the Student Council and careers education; liaise with Safeguarding Team.
• Teaching & Learning: Maintain teaching by leading as an example to raise attainment and motivation.
• Quality Assurance & Data: Monitor teaching quality via observations, planning, work scrutiny; develop assessment data systems.
• Staff Development: Coach and mentor staff; conduct appraisals and contribute to INSET planning.
• Partnerships & Community: Build relationships with parents, community, local businesses to enhance school image.
• Governance & Compliance: Update SLT and Governing Board on provision effectiveness and policy implementation.

About the Role

As Assistant Headteacher, you will be a pivotal member of the Senior Leadership Team, working hand-in-hand with the Headteacher to shape the strategic direction and daily management of the school. This is a highly rewarding dual role: you will lead by example as an outstanding classroom teacher whilst driving whole-school improvement.

You will hold a unique and exciting portfolio, taking the lead on 'The School Way' and our student Pledges, overseeing the Student Council and primary careers provision, and acting as a key link to the Safeguarding Team. Your leadership will directly empower our staff through coaching and quality assurance, ensuring that every child receives an exceptional education and a rich, character-building school experience.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Work closely with the Headteacher to provide clear direction for the school, playing a significant role in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the School Development Plan (SDP), and assisting with day-to-day management (including recruitment and health & safety).

• Specific Portfolios: Take a strategic lead on 'The School Way' and student Pledges, oversee the Student Council, maintain an overview of careers education within the school, and act as a vital link to the Safeguarding Team.

• Teaching & Learning: Undertake the responsibilities of a class teacher, leading by example to achieve high standards of student attainment, behaviour, and motivation.

• Quality Assurance & Data: Monitor the quality of teaching and learning through lesson observations, planning checks, and work scrutiny. Assist in developing robust assessment data systems to track progress and secure raised achievement across key stages.

• Staff Development: Coach, mentor, and support the self-evaluation of teaching staff. Conduct staff appraisals, set performance targets, and contribute to the planning and delivery of INSET days to continuously improve practice.

• Partnerships & Community: Create and maintain effective partnerships with parents to support student achievement. Develop positive links with the community, local businesses, and key stakeholders to promote a positive image of the school.

• Governance & Compliance: Update the SLT and Governing Board on the effectiveness of provision, and ensure the successful implementation of the Governing Board’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant middle or senior leadership experience within a primary setting.

• Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). A relevant SEND qualification is desirable, but not essential.
