Job summary

Frank Barnes School For Deaf Children is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Headteacher for a bilingual (BSL and English) setting in Greater London. The role focuses on leading staff, curriculum design, and implementing robust assessment and safeguarding practices to support deaf and hearing pupils.

The successful candidate will have a proven leadership track record in deaf or mainstream schools, strong BSL and English skills, and the ability to collaborate with our partner school Kings Cross

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and management at senior level in a deaf or mainstream school.
• Strong BSL and English communication.
• Experience in leading curriculum design and innovation to meet the needs of deaf children.
• Experience of leading, supporting and developing assessment systems and data tracking.
• Experience working with parents, the local authority, Deaf organisations and other agencies.
• Secure knowledge and understanding of safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop staff across deaf and hearing teams.
• Lead curriculum design and innovation reflecting deaf children's needs.
• Collaborate with partner school Kings Cross Academy and other stakeholders.

We are looking for anenthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Headteacher to join our innovative and excitingbilingual (BSL and English) school starting in January 2027, with thefollowing skills:

• Is passionateabout working with bilingual deaf children
• Excellent BSLand English skills
• Has a provenrecord of successful leadership and management at a senior level in a deafor mainstream school
• Is able to leada wide range of deaf and hearing staff and communicate effectively withall stakeholders, including our partner school, Kings Cross Academy
• Proven record ofleading curriculum design and innovation that reflects the needs of deafchildren
• Experience ofleading/supporting and developing assessment systems and data tracking andanalysis of pupils’ achievements
• Experience ofworking with, parents, the local authority, Deaf organisations and otheragencies
