Dovetail & Slate Ltd. in the East of England is seeking an Assistant Head of Maths, English and Support to driver the delivery of maths, English and learner support across the organisation.

You will support the Head of Department, lead a team of teaching and support staff and ensure GCSE and Functional Skills learners receive outstanding teaching and support to succeed.

Formación

• Experience of teaching maths or English in further education.
• Experience leading, managing or coordinating a team.
• Qualified teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, DET or equivalent.
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.

Responsabilidades

• Support the Head of Department in leading maths, English and learning support.
• Lead, manage and develop teaching and learning support staff.
• Coordinate timetables and learning support allocation.
• Monitor learner progress, attainment and attendance.
• Support quality assurance including learning walks and observations of teaching.
• Teach maths or English to learners of mixed ability as part of the role.
• Deputising for the Head of Department when required.

Are you an experienced maths or English professional in further education ready to take your next step into leadership?

About the Role

A further education provider in the East of England is looking for an Assistant Head of Maths, English and Support to help lead the delivery of maths, English and learning support across the organisation.

You'll support the Head of Department in the day-to-day running of the area, leading and developing a team of teaching and support staff and making sure learners working towards their GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications get the teaching and the support they need to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Head of Department in leading and coordinating maths, English and learning support provision.
• Leading, managing and developing teaching and learning support staff.
• Coordinating timetables and the allocation of learning support across the area.
• Monitoring learner progress, achievement and attendance, and acting where outcomes need to improve.
• Supporting quality assurance activity, including learning walks and observations of teaching.
• Teaching maths or English to learners of mixed ability as part of the role.
• Deputising for the Head of Department when required.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience of teaching maths or English in further education
• Experience of leading, managing or coordinating a team
• A relevant teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, DET or equivalent
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience of learning support, inclusion or additional learning needs provision
• Experience of quality assurance and the observation of teaching and learning
