Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in the North West is seeking a Teacher of English and Maths on a temporary contract to deliver engaging sessions and support learners toward their qualifications.

You will plan and lead inclusive classes, assess progress, and maintain accurate records while collaborating with colleagues to provide academic and pastoral support.

Qualifications

• Relevant subject qualification in English or maths.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering English and maths sessions to learners at a range of levels.
• Assessing learners' starting points and tracking their progress towards their qualifications.
• Preparing learners for formal assessment and supporting them through it.
• Maintaining accurate course administration, including registers and assessment records.
• Working with colleagues to provide the academic and pastoral support learners need to achieve.

Temporary | Contract

Location: the North West

About the Role

You'll join a housing provider delivering education to learners working towards the qualifications and skills they need to move forward. Teaching English and maths, you'll plan and lead inclusive sessions that meet learners where they are, whatever their prior experience of education.

Alongside delivery, you'll assess progress, keep learner records up to date and work with colleagues across the organisation to make sure every learner is supported.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering English and maths sessions to learners at a range of levels.
• Assessing learners' starting points and tracking their progress towards their qualifications.
• Preparing learners for formal assessment and supporting them through it.Maintaining accurate course administration, including registers and assessment records.
• Working with colleagues to provide the academic and pastoral support learners need to achieve.

What We're Looking For

• A relevant subject qualification in English or maths
• Experience of teaching or training learners with a range of starting points
• The ability to plan and deliver inclusive, engaging sessions
• Strong organisation and accurate record keeping

Desirable (but not essential):

• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed or DET
• Experience of delivering Functional Skills English and maths
