Job summary

CDS Labour (Group UK) Ltd recruiting an Assistant Hatchery Manager to support day-to-day operations at the Butterwick hatchery, alongside the Hatchery Manager, leading the team and coordinating production to ensure chick quality and welfare.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on production management within hatchery settings, poultry or related sectors. Five-day week with early starts and occasional weekend work; permanent, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising and leading a production team.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Good communication and hands-on approach.
• Competent IT skills including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Support daily hatchery operations, from egg receipt through to chick dispatch.
• Organise workloads and staffing plans to meet production targets and customer requirements.
• Oversee chick take-off, grading and dispatch, maintaining quality and welfare standards.
• Monitor hygiene, housekeeping and biosecurity procedures.
• Review production performance data, investigate issues and identify improvements.
• Train, coach and support employees, helping develop a positive and effective team.
• Maintain safe working practices for employees, contractors and visitors.
• Communicate with colleagues across other hatcheries and farms.
• Jointly provide operational leadership with the other Assistant Hatchery Manager when deputising for the Hatchery Manager.
