Job summary

Edenbrook is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the controllership function, overseeing financial reporting, controls, and regulatory compliance while partnering with stakeholders across the business.

The role requires seniority in financial reporting, IFRS/UK GAAP knowledge, and experience with audits and client money processes under CASS 5. Strong leadership and fast-paced execution are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Senior controllership/financial reporting experience in insurance (MGA, broker, or London Market).
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements (IFRS/UK GAAP).
• Experience leading audits and reporting cycles.
• Proficiency in IFRS/UK GAAP and CASS 5 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and reporting.
• Maintain robust balance sheet controls and reconciliations.
• Coordinate group reporting with international teams.
• Ensure IFRS, UK GAAP, and insurance regulatory compliance.
• Lead improvements in financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks.
• Manage internal and external audits and stakeholder relationships.
• Oversee client money processes in line with CASS 5 regulations.
• Provide leadership to the finance team members.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to support business performance and decision-making.

This is a senior role within the controllership team, with responsibility for overseeing financial reporting, controls, and regulatory compliance while partnering closely with stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Review and support preparation of statutory financial statements and reporting
• Ensure robust balance sheet controls and reconciliations
• Support group reporting and coordination with international teams
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and insurance regulatory requirements
• Lead improvements in financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks
• Manage internal and external audit processes and key stakeholder relationships
• Oversee client money processes in line with CASS 5 regulations
• Provide leadership and guidance to finance team members

Skills & Experience
