Job summary

Avara Foods Limited in the UK is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager based at Little Kelk. You will work with the Farm Manager to oversee day-to-day poultry operations, ensuring welfare, biosecurity and high standards across the site.

This role offers a secure, supportive workplace with training and opportunities for career development. Applicants should have livestock experience, and an NVQ/Diploma in Poultry Production or Agriculture is desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous livestock experience, poultry preferred but not essential.
• NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Poultry Production or Agriculture desirable – full training provided.
• Own transport is essential – travel between multiple sites.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• Willingness to learn and self-motivation.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and complete manual tasks.
• Basic IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations on a modern company farm.
• Ensure welfare and performance of livestock.
• Maintain high standards across the site.
• Maintain environmental conditions for bird welfare and biosecurity.
• Feeding, vaccinating, and grading birds.
• Supervise staff and contractors; ensure Health & Safety compliance.
• Maintain records in line with UK legislation and policies.
• Manage farm costs effectively.
• Support operations on other farms when needed.
• Cover for the Farm Manager during absence.
• Report directly to the Farm Manager.
