Assistant Facilities Manager - Health, Safety and Environmental

Salary: c. £35,000 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Assistant Facilities Manager to join our Facilities Team. You will support the Facilities Manager in the management of the society’s Health Safety and Environmental systems ensuring they meet legislative and best practice requirements. You will own the society Health and Safety Policy and any associated policies/tasks and will be the first point of contact for any Health, Safety and Environmental issues arising from both Head office and the branch network.

What the role will look like:

  • To provide support to the business in meeting their statutory duties in relation to Health and Safety and Environmental activities.
  • Owner of the society Health and Safety Policy and Annual Board report.
  • Maintain and manage a programme of Health and Safety Audits and Fire Risk Assessments of all WBBS premises annually, ensuring that all actions identified are allocated to the appropriate individual and followed through to completion.
  • Producing a monthly report to Management on progress of Health and Safety actions.
  • Production and maintenance of detailed reports and data following the progress of Health and Safety issues.
  • Arrange external and internal training courses e.g. First aiders, Fire Marshals.
  • Support the department where necessary in delivery of FM Services.
  • Manage and arrange risk assessments e.g. DSE and Maternities
  • Develop the society Environmental activities in relation to Waste and Energy.
  • Support sustainability requirements and compliance including ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) and SECR (Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting).
  • Manage all Utilities, producing regular performance updates and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support the Society Net zero objectives through Energy Management in line with objectives.
  • Line manage the Fire Risk Assessor.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations and legislation. Any suitable qualification would be advantageous e.g. NEBOSH.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough inspections and audits.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and practices.
