Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London is seeking an Assistant Estimator in Kent to manage the estimating process from enquiry to submission. You will work with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to produce accurate, competitive tenders.

The role requires strong commercial awareness, pricing experience, and the ability to interpret drawings and specifications. You will support junior estimators and contribute to improvements in cost-saving solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Experience pricing a range of construction projects.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
• Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
• Attend site visits, tender interviews, and client meetings.
• Work collaboratively with the pre-construction, commercial, and operational teams.
• Assess project risks and opportunities during the tender process.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, material costs, and supply chain pricing.
• Support and mentor junior estimators where appropriate.
