The Assistant Estimator – Acoustics supports the preparation of accurate, timely, and competitive estimates and proposals for acoustic product solutions. Working closely with the sales team and senior colleagues, this role involves assisting in take-offs from construction drawings, supporting cost analysis, and maintaining key project and pricing documentation. The Assistant Estimator plays an important role in ensuring the smooth flow of information between internal teams and clients, contributing to project success from initial enquiry through to delivery. Strong attention to detail, clear communication, and excellent organisational skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and proposals for acoustic projects.
- Help review construction drawings and specifications to support scope definition.
- Support in gathering and organising data for labour, materials, and time calculations.
- Compile and format estimate documents under guidance from senior team members.
- Communicate with internal departments (e.g. sales, drafting, production) during the estimation process.
- Maintain and update cost databases with input from senior estimators.
- Attend project handover and kick-off meetings to observe and support planning processes.
Project Coordination Support
- Update project information based on input from the team and meetings.
- Help track quotation and project follow-ups alongside acoustic specialists.
- Assist in updating CRM system records with project status, specifications, and pricing.
- Participate in project check-ins to stay informed of developments.
- Learn and support the project lifecycle and key responsibilities across phases.
Administrative Assistance
- Process and follow up on acoustic product orders, supporting invoicing and logistics where needed.
- Provide assistance in preparing shipping quotations and order documentation.
- Communicate with clients during the order lifecycle under supervision, managing basic queries or concerns.
- Prepare quotations with guidance from sales representatives and technical staff.
- Manage and update CRM records for clients, contacts, and project details.
- Check stock availability and place sample orders as required.
Time Management & Communication
- Monitor and prioritise emails, escalating urgent requests to the appropriate team member.
- Balance day-to-day administrative duties with project support tasks.
- Route enquiries and delegate tasks as appropriate with team input.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
Product Knowledge
- Begin developing in-depth knowledge of the business’s acoustic product range and technical specifications.
- Stay informed about updates and new product applications to support estimating work.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Secondary school graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
- Prior experience in an administrative, estimating, or project support role is preferred.
- Industry experience (e.g. construction, interiors, or design) is beneficial but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative in a team environment.
